What happens in Season 6?
Season 5 ended with Diana and the boys heading for the Mediterranean vacation one month before the fatal car accident in Paris. The story is expected to continue from there, involving more intricate details about the relationship between Diana and her boyfriend, Dodi Al Fayed. The after-events of the accident, how the royals rode the wave of public opinion, and the funeral becoming the global event of the decade are all talking points for this season.
Looking at the ages of the actors playing Prince Harry and Prince William, we will see them attending college later in the season, where Kate meets William. The stills from the series are already surfacing the internet, where Kate and William seem to be enjoying their shoots at St.Andrews. We still need a clear picture of how the creators plan to conclude the series with Harry, as they have already mentioned that there are no plans to explore the relationship between Prince Harry and Megan on the show.
The 90s and early 2000s were also plenty eventful for the older monarchs. Like Morgan’s 2006 film, ‘The Queen,’ the series is set to revisit the dramatic days of the Queen’s reaction to Diana’s death. The hype around the wedding of Prince Charles of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, is the highlight in the ending episodes of the season. The series may end in 2005, at the grand marriage in St.George’s Chapel.
The uncertainty surrounding Season 6
There was hearsay that the series might end after the fifth season, after Prince Harry and Megan’s rumored deal with Netflix. However, Netflix announced in July 2020 that there would be a sixth and final season. The creators felt that to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story; it became clear that the series would require another season after they finished writing season 5.
Where do I watch The Crown series?
A month ago, Netflix released an official trailer for part 1 of the final season. You can watch it on YouTube or the official Netflix site. The first four episodes stream on Netflix, whereas the remaining six will stream from December 14.
The Crown has been worthy of all the praise and love it has received over the past seven years. The masterful storytelling, gripping dialogues, and skillful acting kept everyone on their toes at the end of every episode. As the series ends, there’s an undeniable sense of excitement and anticipation about what new stories and drama unfold. The sixth season promises to live up to its hype as we eagerly find out about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II in the late 90s and early twenty-first century.
